Parent/Carer Survey

Dear Parents and Carers

Parent and Carer Survey:  June 2021

The questions on our Parent/Carer Survey were taken from the Ofsted website.

  1. My child is happy at this school.

95% of our parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.

  1. My child feels safe at this school.

99% of our parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.

  1. The school makes sure its pupils are well behaved.

92% of our parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed with 4% ‘don’t know’ responses.

  1. My child has been bullied and the school dealt with the bullying quickly and effectively.

The vast majority of parents and carers responded that they hadn’t had to deal with any bullying issues.  On the few occasions where bullying had occurred, most parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed that incidents were dealt with quickly and effectively.

  1. The school makes me aware of what my child will learn during the year.

The majority of parents strongly agreed or agreed.  Of those who disagreed, 5% strongly disagreed.

We are taking the following action to improve our current practice:

  • Re-introduce termly curriculum and assessment updates.
  • Post ‘I can’ statements for all subject areas on our website.
  • Post regular social media updates to signpost parents and carers to our website.
  • Introduce Parent App (Autumn 2021).
  1. When I have raised concerns with the school they have been dealt with properly.

The vast majority have not needed to raise concerns with school.  Most parents and carers who have raised concerns feel that they have been dealt with properly.

  1. My child has SEND, and the school gives them the support they need to succeed.

The vast majority of parents and carers with pupils who have SEND strongly agreed or agreed with the statement.

  1. The school has high expectations for my child.

The majority of parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.

  1. My child does well at this school.

86% or parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.  We are mindful that 8% replied that they didn’t know.  During the Autumn term, we are introducing a Parent App which will improve home-school communications.

  1. The school lets me know how my child is doing.

The majority of parents and carers strongly agreed and agreed.  This is an area where we want to improve and, as a result, we will take the following actions:

  • Review current assessment and reporting processes and introduce change in September 2021.
  • Review and update our current assessment and reporting schedule.
  • Introduce a Parent App to improve home-school communication.
  • Improved tracking of attendance at Parents’ Evenings.
  • Carry out a follow-up survey to maximise attendance at Parents’ Evenings
  1. There is a range of subjects available to my child at this school.

The vast majority of parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.

  1. My child can take part in clubs and activities at this school.

The majority of parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.  We acknowledge that 23% of parents and carers did not know.  When pandemic restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so, clubs and activities will resume.  Extra-curricular activities will be shared with parents and carers.

  1. The school supports my child’s wider personal development.

The majority of parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.  We are mindful that 12% of parents and carers responses were ‘don’t know’.  We will increase our use of social media and our website to raise awareness of opportunities which support our pupils’ personal development.

  1. I would recommend this school to another parent.

94% of our parents and carers strongly agreed or agreed.
